Look for Natural Ingredients

Do testosterone boosters really workI find most products have been formulated using safe and effective herbal or natural ingredients. There are however some products on the market are actually pro-hormones. If you see the synthetic (chemical) ingredients like androstenedione or androstenediol stay away from these.

 List All of the Ingredients

Some lower priced herbal based products will have lower quantities of ingredients. Many of these take more time to have an effect or have no effects. One of the biggest issues I find is unfortunately some manufacturers won’t list the ingredients on the labels. Manufacturers may refer to the ingredients on the label as “proprietary” or “matrix”. I would avoid these products. It’s likely the ingredients are lower in quantity or not natural.

Certain Boosters Have a Proven Track Record

Later on in this article we discuss some of the most effective testosterone boosters. Stick with the more tried and tested ingredients. Look for the information on products containing more researched and clinically tested herbs. Like these: Fenugreek, Tongkat Ali, Pine Pollen, Mucuna, RhodiolaStinging NettleCordyceps and many others.

I always give preference to products that have some clinical research reports. Look to see if a manufacturer refers to clinical trials or research studies that helps reinforce the effectiveness. Having this will give some credibility to testosterone booster manufacturers claims.

Formulated with Effective and Quality Ingredients

The natural testosterone booster you choose must have a the correct blend of ingredients. To be effective there must be natural ingredients that perform different functions. For example you need a booster component and perhaps a anti-aromatase ingredient as well. Some of the more premium booster products will have other vitamins, macro-nutrients or adaptogens that will benefit your body in others ways.

Stick with Well Researched Test Boosters

Some of the more common studied boosters are ones like Fenugreek, Longifolia Jack(Tongkat Ali), Pine Pollen, Mucuna Pruriens, Tribulus, Stinging NettleColeus Forskohlii, and many others. Increased Libido and Testosterone Levels

In some cases there is not sufficient scientific research that the product can actually increase testosterone levels. In some cases the manufacturer may not want to reveal their proprietary formulas.  The clinical results can be somewhat subjective and many are based on animal trials. Another place to look for some evidence that the supplement works effectively is in detailed product reviews.

Herbal Supplement Effectiveness

It is likely you may have to try more than natural test booster in order to find one that works best for you. Also keep in mind it may take days or even weeks to see results. In some of the products cycling on and off could be required to allow your body hormones to normalize.

Look for the information on products containing more researched and clinically tested herbs such as: Fenugreek, Longifolia Jack(Tongkat Ali), Pine Pollen, Mucuna Pruriens, Tribulus, Stinging NettleColeus Forskohlii and many others.  Side effects are usually very minor compared to hormone replacement therapy(HRT). The Natural Process to Boost Testosterone

Herbs to increase testosterone1. Herbal Ingredient Test Boosters

These natural test boosters usually rely on one or more of these herbs to basically stimulate the body to produce testosterone.

Keep in mind this is very simplified protocol but in basic terms this is how it works:

1. The active Steroidal Glycosides (test booster) stimulates the hypothalamus(part of the brain).
2. This  communicates with our pituitary gland to increase production of lutenizing hormone (LH).
3. This hormone triggers the leydig cells within the testes to increase testosterone production.

2. Aromatase Inhibitor Boosters

Vitamin D to increase testosterone What is an Aromatase Inhibitor (AI)?

These supplements will include various natural test boosters with an aromatase inhibitor. Anti-Aromtase is a compound that binds itself to the aromatase enzyme. This prevents excess free testosterone from converting to estrogen. It works by basically keeping “free” testosterone from being converted into bad estrogens like Estrone and Estradiol. The free testosterone is what we need for muscle building and sexual functions.

Some test booster products can contain different types of aromatase inhibitors (AI) substances. Simply some can be in the form of vitamins like Vitamin D or zinc.

Aromatase Inhibitors to Increase Free Testosterone

Inhibiting aromatase is key for ridding your body of estrogen. With aromatase you end up producing estrogen instead of testosterone. Your body produces the hormone androstenedione.  This will be turned into testosterone unless aromatase is present then it would be turned into estrogen(bad). The effect of having aromatase present will cause testosterone into estrogen as well. Supplements containing selenium, zinc, melatonin, green tea will act as anti-aromatase.

Side Effects are Minimal

Most natural testosterone boosters virtually no side effects. Its possible to have allergies to certain ingredients. Some aromatase inhibitors could if taken excessively could include an increased risk for developing osteoporosis and joint disorders such as arthritis. This is because even as a man you need small amounts estrogen to promote good bone health. Taken as directed the side effects are generally minimal. If you are uncertain you could consult a physician to be sure.

Hormone Replacement Can Be Risky

Likely the most risky testosterone boosting is drug hormone replacement therapy (HRT) since your body will stop making it’s own testosterone. This could be temporary or permanent in which case you would have to keep on these synthetic drug injections.

    HI Wayne.

I was wondering about natural ways to boost my testosterone levels and how i can gain results with minimal side effects.

I used body building products years ago and i can see the have come a long way recently.

Better for you nowadays and i see from your article, more natural.

I still lift weights and so the sit ups regular, but i’m not seeing any decent results.I want the gains but i don’t want any side effects.

I want to take a supplement to get the muscle gains, but will the testosterone supplements make my thinning hair fall out faster? I’ve heard that too much of it is what leads to baldness.

    All the best

This is a complicated issue. In the past MPB was considered a side effect of too much testosterone and therefore to much DHT. The suspect DHT has been researched recently and found not to be the cause. In fact the opposite was found that MPB was found in men with lower testosterone. They found the issue was higher levels of the enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT. What could be a help is a drug that inhibits the 5a reductase enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT. In any case you should discuss your MPB with your doctor.
